Even with the late spring, the flowers were raring to get going. Mostly the tulips. The tulips couldn’t wait. And now they’re spent with the 30C weather this past weekend. But that’s neither here nor there. Without further ado, the flowers of April 2013.

Bird Watching

I was feeling a little down today so I grabbed the camera and went for a walk and what a walk it was. The birds were out, chirping, nesting, showing off. It turned into a good day thanks to a watchful owl and a giant blue heron.

Car Postcards

In advance of the upcoming Diablos Greaseball Bash I got some of my best car photos together for a postcard series Hot Rod | Classic | Rat Rod | Heap. I’ll have these all at my booth plus a whole lot more including magnets, prints and canvases. You’ll all have to come down to the Bowness Sportsplex on June 22.

It Takes A Village

Last month Tom at the Village Brewery asked me to be one of a handful of artists to paint table tops for their upstairs space. The theme was their motto It Takes A Village and this is the project, finished and throughout. It’s been a while since I painted anything so it was nice to go back to it. I think it turned out really good and I can’t wait to see what the others look like.

Everyone I’ve met over at the Brewery are amazing folks and it’s great to be able to support a local brand. They bend over backwards to support the community and it doesn’t hurt that their beer is pretty good too…

Down at the Garden Show

It’s official. The Snow Crocus photo is a top ten finalist for the Calgary Horticultural Society’s Garden Show photo contest. Thanks for all the input and help in narrowing it down! So if you’re at the show, April 13 to 14, make sure you go and vote for your fave finalist! All ten will be displayed in the Gallery on the Green building and you can see who I’m up against here.

So. I got a Tweet from the Calgary Horticultural Society saying I should enter their Garden Show photo competition. And I’m debating it. But the problem is choosing. I really don’t know which way to go. The theme is Spring Blooms – “Celebrate the first inviting blooms that inspire and wake us up to the warm days of spring. Images should convey the highlights of our local spring flora. Creativity, colour and beautiful compositions are welcome.” So, help me out. Tell me which one you think I should enter and why. Ready.
